Rockport Police/Fire: Argument at Sandy Bay Estates diffused

---- — ROCKPORT — Police responded to a report of a fight outside Sandy Bay Estates at 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

Responding officers, however, said it was a verbal argument, and they effectively broke up the disagreement. No charges were filed.

Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., police received a report of people going door-to-door soliciting orders for DirectTV.

Police said the solicitors were reported around the Haven Avenue and Summer Street areas; officers told them to go through the proper channels to obtain solicitation permits.

A High Street woman phoned the Fire Department for black smoke coming out of the chimney Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Police said the issue was a furnace that was not working properly.

Police said they received a complaint about a barking dog on Frank Street Thursday at 1:40 a.m.. The owner brought the dog inside.

Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., a Granite Street man was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester.
