Manchester Police/Fire: West Beach remains closed to swimming

MANCHESTER — Black Beach, which had been closed on Wednesday, has passed a retest of the beach water and is now open to swimming, town officials said Thursday.

But West Manchester Beach remained closed to swimming Thursday due to continued bacteria in the water that exceeded the state Department of Environmental Protection’s allowable limits.

New test results regarding West Beach are expected this morning, officials said.

Town Police notified the Department of Public Works at 2 p.m. Thursday about a water shut off valve on Sea Street that had fallen off. The DPW was tending to the problem.
