Correction / Clarification

Thursday’s story about A. Piatt Andrew’s house, Red Roof, incorrectly stated that Red Roof property is adjacent to Beauport. In fact, there is a lot and a house between the two properties on Eastern Port.

Also, in the same story, two sentences on the front page were laid out in a way that could be confusing to readers. What the text intended to tell readers was that Andrew’s parties at Red Roof “included Franklin Delano Roosevelt when he was Andrew’s economics professor at Harvard. The .767 acres of property were acquired by Andrews for $2,500 in 1901...”

A Page 1 caption under a photo of the Rockport holiday memorial tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook School shooting in Connecticut list an incorrect number of trees and shooting victims. It should have read 26.
