Photos of the Year by Desi Smith

I think that the photo of the football athlete near exhaustion tells a story. There is the concern of his fellow teammate as the assistant coach, at far right, looks back at him during an early morning strengthening program at Good Harbor Beach.

I just love the look in the eyes of this dog when it came face-to-face with a pig at the Blessing of Animals in Rockport.

I love the reaction of the player after he scored a goal and the dejection of the defender while they played in the rain and mud.

I love the looks on the young children’s faces in this image, especially the girl on the right as she gasped at the reading of a scary moment during a telling of the story of “The Nutcracker.”

There’s just something about this girl’s eyes as she tries to find her way out of the glass house at the Fiesta carnival.

I love this woman’s reaction as she runs from a crashing wave that catches her off guard during a storm.
