Essex Police/Fire: Essex crash sends two to hospital

---- — ESSEX — Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident that sent two people to area hospitals Saturday afternoon.

Police said that Scott Savory, 53, of Pine Ridge Road, was driving a truck Saturday at 4:19 p.m. on Scotts Way when his vehicle struck a telephone pole.

Savory had to be extracted from the vehicle by emergency crews using the Jaws of Life and was transported to Beverly Hospital. Police said a female passenger, believed to be from Danvers, was transported via med-flight to a Boston area hospital.

State police are involved in the reconstruction process of the accident, while National Grid was notified about the telephone pole.

On Friday at 11:21 p.m,. police received a report from Ipswich police officers about a potentially intoxicated driver heading into Essex on Route 133. Police checked the area, but were unable to locate any vehicle matching the description.

A resident who reportedly feared for child safety called police to report kids playing on the ice at Chebacco Lake at 2:21 p.m. on Sunday. Police were unable to locate any children.

A second call came in at 2:38, this time about a different set of kids playing on the ice. This time, Hamilton police officers spoke to the children, and asked them to get off the ice.

Early Friday morning, police responded to a Spring Street residence after a reported 911 misdial at 6:22. Police did not find any suspicious activity when they arrived.

At 6:29 p.m. on Sunday, the Fire Department’s ambulance corps transported a female Story Street resident to Beverly
