Car stolen here found in Lawrence

Gloucester Police/Fire

A car reported stolen from a Concord Street driveway in Gloucester Wednesday about 7:08 a.m. was recovered in Lawrence by police there later in the morning.

The owner of the 1995 tan Honda Accord wagon told police he had parked the car in his driveway Tuesday night about 6 p.m., and that he still had the keys after the car was taken.

Gloucester police entered the missing car into the computer system and later received notification through that system that the Lawrence police had found the vehicle by using Lojack, a global positioning device within the car.

The vehicle had ignition damage and steering column damage when officers found it abandoned on Willow Street in Lawrence, according to Lawrence police. The car was towed to a Coady’s Towing lot in Lawrence, according to police there.

A woman was reunited with her lost purse after another person found the pink purse in front of Strong Leather on Maplewood Avenue and brought it into the police station Tuesday about 9:02 p.m.

The purse contained a wallet with a driver’s license belonging to a woman, according to police. Police said the woman had come into the station to report her purse missing; she found that all of her belongings were still in the purse.
