Essex Police/Fire: Police contact resident with monitoring device

Essex Police/Fire

ESSEX — Police were requested by a court probation officer to contact a resident with an electronic monitoring device with whom the court had lost contact.

Police responded to the 2:17 a.m. Tuesday call, and were able to contact the Essex resident. There were no charges filed.

Police received a call from a Conomo Point Road resident about an ongoing animal complaint.

The resident called at 8:17 a.m. and reported a skunk near her property and thinks one may be living in her basement. Police notified animal control.

On Tuesday at 3:24 p.m., police responded to reports of a dog wandering in and out of traffic on Main Street. Police were unable to find the animal. Essex does not have a dog leash law.

Police said there were reports of smoke at 9:44 a.m. on Wednesday on Andrews Street. But police believed the smoke was coming from a residential wood stove, and the smoke was not the sign of a fire.

After receiving reports of a disturbance, police responded to the area of Story Street and Western Avenue at 8:43 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers, however, were unable to find anyone at the scene.

Police transported a male Cogswell Court resident to Beverly Hospital at 8:17 a.m. on Wednesday

A resident turned in a portfolio to a Main Street business after finding it on the street; officers returned it to its rightful owner.
