Council panel continues Fort hotel hearing

---- — The City Council’s Planning and Development Committee will resume its review of the Beauport Gloucester hotel proposal for Commercial Street during its meeting today beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The developers, Sheree Delorenzo and Jim Davis — organized as Beauport Gloucester LLC — are seeking a major project special permit to build a 101-room hotel facing Pavilion Beach, after the council last June approved a hotel overlay district that allowed the use within the marine industrial zone that covers Commercial Street and Fort Square.

Delorenzo and Davis, who owns the New Balance, first partnered behind Cruiseport Gloucester.

The review of the application was continued from Dec. 19, and is expected to extend over a number of meetings before being finalized and sent to the full council.

The committee agenda also includes a revised request for proposals — including a potential sale — of the city’s I-4, C-2 property off Rogers Street.
