Essex Police/Fire: 'Missing person' found at Causeway

Essex Police/Fire

ESSEX —An Essex resident called to file a missing person report in the midst of the storm at 12:43 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said the woman’s son, who was doing private plowing work in the town, was expected to have returned earlier. After police received a description of the vehicle, the driver was located on Story Street, where he had become stuck because the Causeway was flooded and he could not make it across.

Town police and public works crews dealt with a number of issues sparked by the Blizzard of 2013, including downed, low-hanging wires, downed trees, and carbon monoxide alerts.

Saturday morning at 12:57, a transformer blew a fuse on Eastern Avenue, causing a power outage. National Grid was notified and power restored was to the area.

On Saturday at 7:14 a.m., police said downed trees on Lufkin Point Lane resulted in the road being blocked. The lane, however, is a private roadway and the owner was responsible for clearing the debris, police said. National Grid was notified and responded to the scene.
