Gloucester District Court: Drivers get continuances in DUI cases

Gloucester District Court Judge Joseph Jennings continued a drunken driving charge against a Gloucester woman without a finding for two years.

Jennings continued the charge brought against Shana Holub, 21, of 11 Beach Road, assessed her $600 in court costs and suspended her license for 45 days.

Rockport Police arrested Holub in November after an officer saw her vehicle crash into a telephone pole when she turned off Main Street in that town onto Railroad Avenue. Holub was administered a Breathalyzer test, which found that she was over the legal blood-alcohol content level of .08.

Drunken driving charges brought against a Gloucester man were also continued without a finding Tuesday.

In that case, Jennings continued the charges brought against David Forster, 55, of 137 Thatcher Road, without a finding for a year, assessed Forster $600 in court costs and suspended his license for 45 days.

Jennings also continued a negligent operation charge Forster faced without a finding for a year. He was fined $250 for that charge and ordered to participate in a driving program.

Police arrested Forster after stopping his car at the Bass Avenue lights on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Officers saw him cross over the center line on Main Street and come to a stop at the lights over the center line as well.

According to the police report, Forster failed sobriety tests and was then arrested at the scene of the stop.

A charge of assault and battery on a person over the age of 60, brought against an Essex woman, was dismissed due to a failure to prosecute.

Jennings dismissed the charge, which had been brought against Allison Martin, 48, of 33 Lufkin St.

A charge of driving an uninsured motor vehicle brought against Beverly Stanley, 58, of 32 Warner St., Gloucester, was dismissed on payment of $150 in court costs.

A charge of unlicensed driving brought against Michele Brooks, 46, of 114 Magnolia Ave., was dismissed on payment of $100 in court costs.
