Rockport Police/Fire: Driver faces charges after weekend crash

---- — ROCKPORT — A town resident is facing charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation in the aftermath of a crash early Saturday morning.

David Somers, 26, of Broadway Terrace is facing charges after police responded to a motor vehicle accident Saturday at 12:30 a.m.

Friday around 1:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a Main Street business for a smoking light fixture. The area was cleared in about 20 minutes, but there were no reports of serious damage.

A Main Street resident told police Monday morning around 9:15 that her car had been entered since the weekend.

According to police, however, the resident did not report anything missing.

Numerous medical calls kept Rockport’s emergency crews busy throughout the weekend.

Friday at 12:49 p.m., police said a female Clark Avenue resident was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital.

At 4:47 p.m. Friday, a female Sandy Bay Estates resident was transported to the hospital.

On Sunday at 3:43 a.m., a Mount Pleasant Street resident was taken to the Gloucester hospital.

A female Parker Street resident was transported to AGH around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, and a male Bearskin Neck resident was taken to the Gloucester hospita Sunday at 4:47 p.m.
