Essex Police/Fire: City man arrested on warrant

ESSEX — Police investigated a vehicle parked off Martin Street on Saturday around 1:45 p.m., and confirmed through the registration that the owner was a 29-year-old Gloucester man being sought on default warrants.

Police then arrested Walter Franklin Jr., 29, of Lewis Court in Gloucester.

On Saturday at 10:23 a.m., police said they received reports of a resident walking on Route 128 by Exit 15. State police and Manchester police were notifiedas well; Essex police were not able to locate anyone when they arrived.

Police took a report from a resident near Spring Street indicating that somebody may have fired an air gun at her dog around 5:45 p.m. Friday. The dog was fine, police said, but the resident wanted police to have the incident on record.

Police said large potholes were forming on Conomo Point Road Saturday; the Department of Public works was notified about the issue.

On Sunday, police were told about a deer that was struck by a car on Southern Avenue just after 1 a.m. Police checked the area, but could not find the animal.
