---- — ESSEX — A resident reported his boat, at a marina near Main Street, had been damaged.

The boat owner, who called police at 11 a.m. Thursday, said somebody had tried to break into the vessel by using a ladder to unscrew the boat’s windshield.

Police said they are investigating it as a breaking and entering incident, as someone may have tried to steal something from the boat itself. Nothing was reported stolen.

On Wednesday morning, around 11:30, a motorist called to report another driver operating erratically on Route 133 heading into Essex. When police arrived on scene, they were unable to locate anyone.

At 8:26 a.m. Thursday, a Lanes Road resident called police after receiving a suspicious phone call. The resident told police he believed it to be a scam when the person claimed to be from a delivery company. Police are now investigating the incident.

At 11:19 a.m. Thursday, police and firefighters responded to a fire alarm at The Farm Bar and Grille on Western Avenue. Police said the alarm had been set off by accident.

A resident reported hearing glass breaking at 211 Western Ave. around 2:30 Thursday afternoon. Police said the house was being improved upon on behalf of the bank which owns it.
