Farewell to a firefighter

Family, friends, colleagues in uniform mourn Glenn Boutchie

ESSEX — The Essex Fire Department rang the last alarm for one its members Monday evening.

The alarm sounded around 7:30 p.m. after a memorial service for Firefighter Glenn C. Boutchie, a member of its ranks for more than 40 years. Family, friends, and firefighters from neighboring towns filled pews at St. John’s the Baptist Church, 52 Main St., as 61-year-old, who died Dec. 5, was remembered. His boots, fire jacket and helmet rested before the altar.
