Gloucester Police/Fire: Police probe theft of art work

Gloucester Police/Fire

A Friend Street woman reported that a work of art had been stolen from her home Tuesday about 10:52 a.m., police said.

The woman said she suspected that a man, the only man who had been in her bedroom, had taken the glass carving. Police are investigating the apparent theft.

Gloucester Police contacted the state Department of Public Works after receiving a report of a plastic basket in the Route 128 South roadway near the A. Piatt Andrew Bridge Tuesday about 9:34 a.m., according to police.

Police said a state crew responded and removed the obstacle.
