Essex Police/Fire: Storm forces brief Causeway shutdown

---- — ESSEX — Police helped close the Main Street Causeway Thursday morning around 7 a.m. after rain and a storm surge began to flood the roadway.

The Causeway was reopened a few hours later.

Police responded to a domestic issue at 12:23 on Wednesday on Southern Avenue, police said. The issue is still under investigation.

National Grid was notified after police received reports of sparking wires on Main Street at 4:45 a.m.

A fallen tree was reported to police Thursday morning just before 4:30 on Apple Street. Police said the Department of Public Works responded and cleaned up the debris.

Police responded with the Fire Department’s rescue squad Tuesday to a medical emergency at 4:34 p.m. on Story Street. Police said a resident was transported to Beverly Hospital.

On Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Cogswell Court,. Responding officers, however, found everything to be secure.

Thursday morning at 3:30, police responded to a Main Street business after a burglar alarmed sounded. Police again found everything to be secure.
