A principal's surprise
Goodwin gets a standing ovation from the entire school population during the surprise party at Newell Stadium.
Gloucester High School Principal William Goodwin, who had, unknown to school's students, unexpectedly left building around midday Thursday, was told he had to come back to address an unknown "emergency." And when he arrived, seeing the students outside the building led him to believe there had been an evacuation.

Wellspring honors women
Wellspring House of Gloucester held its 14th Annual Women Honoring Women Luncheon earlier this month with over 670 in attendance.

This year's honorees were long-time Wellspring volunteer Betsy Brown of Manchester, The Open Door's Executive Director Julie LaFontaine of Essex, and Barbara Lynch, one of Boston's and the country's leading chefs and restaurateurs. Lynch also was the keynote speaker. -
