Rockport Ramblings: File of Life program turns 15

Do you know what medication your family and friends are on in case of an emergency?

That’s the goal of File of Life, which aims to keep people up date with what conditions and medications they are on. The red, plastic magnet turns 15 this year, use it write down what medications you take, what allergies you have, blood type and other important medical information.

The program is free to Rockporters, and has been sponsored by the Rockport National Bank since 1996, for more information call the Rockport Police Department at 978-546-1212.

Rotary Club gives awards

The Rockport Rotary Club last Monday presented its annual Town Employee and Citizen of the Year award, selecting two of the town’s most visible leaders.

Town Administrator Linda Sanders received the Employee of the Year honor.

Sanders, who became administrator in 2010 and became a member of the Rockport Rotary Club and the Sandy Bay Yacht Club to enjoy her love of service and sailing in her new friends. She was also honored for having “saved the town from several potentially expensive law suits by quietly handling them,” reads a press release from the Rotary Club.

The citizen of the year award was presented to Sam Coulbourn.

Coulbourn, who retired from the Navy after 30 years of service, chaired and served on the Rockport Planning Board for 19 years, and now serves on the Rockport Schools’ Educational Foundation and Millbrook Meadow Committee. He also leads the Rockport Public Library’s History Book Club.

Laurene Wessel, the past president of the club, received the Rotary’s Paul Harris Award.

She has served on the Finance Committee for the past five years and is currently the Vice Chair. She was the president of the Parent Teacher Organization and served with the Rockport Art Association and served as chair and board member of Action, Inc.
