A 20-year-old man says he was struck in the legs with a tire iron, kicked in the back of the head, and choked to the point of becoming unconscious by two men this weekend.
Police are investigating the alleged assault that the victim said occurred on Summer Street this past Sunday about 1:11 a.m.
The man told police he had been “jumped” by some men who he found with his girlfriend in her vehicle. He told police he had asked the woman what was going on, and a male exited the vehicle with a tire iron in hand and began striking him. He said another man got out and choked him then kicked his head. Then, the two men and the girlfriend allegedly drove off.
The victim, who suffered lacerations above and below his left eye and above his left ear, as well as other injuries, was transported to Beverly Hospital by the Fire Department ambulance. However, a Beverly Hospital spokesman said there was no record of the victim being treated there. A spokesman at Addison Gilbert Hospital said he had not been treated there, either.
Police searched the area that night for the vehicle, called his girlfriend’s phone number and checked for her at her Rockport address, but were unable to locate her and the two men.
