---- — ROCKPORT — Two reports of phone solicitors asking for money were received by police Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

Police said the first call came in to a Briarstone Road resident. The caller claimed a relative of the resident was in a foreign country and had been jailed, and the caller asked for money to get the relative out of jail.

Another call was reported by a Broadway resident involving a medical alert scam.

At least two Essex women reported falling for phone scams earlier this week.

Police are advising residents not to give money or personal information to any suspicious phone callers, instead residents should report the calls by contacting the Police Department directly at 978-546-1212.

Thursday night at 8:50, firefighters were dispatched Granite Street in answer to a fire alarm sounding. The alarm was set off by a faulty detector.

Friday at 4:40 a.m., a Marmion Way man was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester.
