Rockport Police/Fire

ROCKPORT — A man who argued about wearing a shirt has been told to stay out of a local store

Police responded to Cumberland Farms on Railroad Avenue around 7 p.m. Monday on a report of an assault.

A Hodgkins Road resident had walked into the convenience store to buy cigarettes, police said, and was asked to leave by the clerk because the man was shirtless.

The man then threatened the clerk, police said, adding that there was no physical contact between the clerk and man.

Police advised the man to stay out of the store.

A Gale Avenue resident reported Monday at 2:50 p.m. that twice during the past week somebody has turned on the hose in the backyard, flooding it.

Police said a similar report came in from another Gale Avenue resident and that officers will be patrolling the neighborhood.

Monday at 8:15 p.m., firefighters and National Grid were notified about a sparking utility pole on Penzance Road.

Monday just before 5:30 p.m., police moved large rocks that washed up onto Granite Street.

On Monday police helped two residents with lock problems. A Wharf Road man locked himself out of his car at 2:15 p.m. and a Sandy Bay Estates resident locked herself out of her apartment at 7 p.m.

At 6 p.m. Monday, police said a false alarm was sounding on Sheehan Terrace.

Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., a Summer Street woman was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester.
