Essex Police/Fire: Car crash sends two to hospital

---- — ESSEX — Two people were taken to local hospitals and a Beverly woman was issued a written warning for failure to yield after a two-car accident Sunday just after noon.

Police said the Eastern Avenue accident required traffic assistance from both Gloucester and Manchester police.

Firefighters responded to a transformer that had malfunctioned Friday at 3:10 p.m. on Western Avenue. National Grid was notified, and sent a crew to repair the problem after a power outage.

At 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, a Main Street man reported vandalism to his car.

Police said Saturday at 5:30 a.m., the Fire Department extinguished a minor fire outside of the Essex River Motel.

Police said a bicyclist was found injured on Main Street Sunday at 1 p.m. Police said the cyclist was transported to Beverly Hospital.

Essex police notified Gloucester officers after a dead deer was found on Route 133 Sunday at 8:50 a.m.
