Gloucester Police/Fire: City man charged after Pratty's assault

Gloucester Police/Fire

Police arrested a 29-year-old Sandy Bay Terrace man for allegedly “sucker punching” another man at Pratty’s Bar on Parker Street Monday about 6:35 p.m.

Brandan L. Noble told officers he had punched the man because the man had been “name calling” Noble and “harassing (his) wife and other women in the neighborhood for a long time,” according to the police report.

Officers explained to Noble his right to a harassment order before arresting him for assault and battery with a shod foot and malicious property destruction resulting in under $250 in damage, according to the report.

Witnesses had reported that Noble tapped the man on the shoulder and “sucker punched” him in the face, police said. Police said that, as the man fell from his stool, his head hit the wall causing damage to the wall, then Noble continued to kick the man in the head and side, witnesses told officers.

Police responding to a call from a woman reporting that her neighbor had sprayed her with “unknown chemicals” found that the second-floor neighbor cleaning his deck with dish soap and water had “accidentally” sprayed the woman, police said.

Police, recognizing an ongoing dispute between the Davis Street residents, advised the man to use more caution when cleaning his deck.

Police arrested Christopher G. Montgomery, a 20-year-old Cleveland Place resident, on a charge of probation violation, after the man’s urine tested positive for opiates during a random screening Monday about 5:47 p.m., police said.
