Essex Police/Fire

ESSEX — Police received a report of vandalism done to a motor vehicle at 6:43 p.m. Tuesday.

An Apple Street resident said someone smashed two passenger-side windows with rocks and also dented the car sometime within the prior hour.

Police are investigating.

A Western Avenue man called 911 at 1:38 Wednesday morning to report "something happening" to his girlfriend in Quincy. Essex police immediately notified authorities in Quincy. Essex police followed up later Wednesday morning and were told by Quincy police that everything was OK.

A burglar alarm activated at Centennial Grove Cottage at 1:32 a.m. Wednesday. Officers responded to the facility and found everything was secured.

Police responded to several burglar and fire alarms Wednesday morning that officials believe were triggered by thunderstorms. A fire alarm at a Chebacco Terrace residence and burglar alarms on Eastern Avenue and in South Essex Village were determined to be false.

An activated burglar alarm on Moses Lane at 12:23 p.m. was also determined to be false. However, it wasn't triggered by thunder and lightning but rather a contractor working inside the home, police said.
