Gloucester driver tied to Boston fatality

BOSTON — A Gloucester teenager was at the wheel of a pickup truck involved in Boston accident Monday that left a Pennsylvania motorcyclist dead.

The crash, on the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge between Boston and Cambridge, occurred when the motorcyclist, identified by police as 20-year-old Vail Cerullo of Chester Springs, Pa., was crossing from Boston to Cambridge when the truck, operated by an 18-year-old Gloucester man, made an improper turn in front of Cerullo's motorcycle.

The motorcycle crashed into the pickup, police said, throwing Cerullo onto the ground, where he was run over by a large SUV.

Cerullo was taken to a hospital after the 2:25 p.m. accident, but he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have yet been filed.

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Neither Boston nor Cambridge police provided identification for the Gloucester driver Tuesday.

Material from the Associated Press was used in this report.
