---- — ESSEX — Police responded to a call about children hopping from pool to pool Wednesday at 2:50 p.m. in the area of Apple Street.

Police spoke to the group of children, advising them against pool hopping.

A report of a loose horse in the area of John Wise Avenue and Choate Street sparked a police search Wednesday just before 4:30 a.m., but officers said they could not find the animal.

Essex police are reminding residents to stay cool during the summer heat by drinking fluids and avoiding liquids with caffeine and alcohol.
