---- — Despite forecasts still calling for scattered evening thunderstorms, tonight’s Gloucester Downtown Block Party is going on as planned, event organizers announced shortly after 3 p.m.
Weather data shows that the early storms have moved off Cape Ann, and the events are slated to go on as scheduled from 6 to 11 p.m., with sidewalk dining, a variety of entertainment on multiple stages, and family events for kids of all ages.
The Block Party runs along Main Street and its side streets from the intersection of Pleasant and Duncan streets to Washington Street. Main Street is closing to vehicular traffic in that area beginning at 5 p.m., with the western end of Main Street converted into a pedestrian mall for the Block Party.
