Rockport Police/Fire: Vase stolen from gallery

ROCKPORT — A Main Street art gallery reported a vase stolen just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police said there was no video surveillance in the store. The value of the vase is pegged at about $900, police said.

A second door-to-door salesmen, this one claiming to be from National Grid, approached a Prospect Street resident at 5:47 p.m. on Tuesday. Police spoke to the representative and informed the person of the proper permitting procedure.

Police said firefighters and a National Grid crew was dispatched to Stockholm Avenue after a transformer had been struck by lighting Tuesday just before 2 p.m.; police said the utility pole remained standing.

Tuesday at 10:40 p.m., a Babcock Road man was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital.

A false fire alarm sounded Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. on Prospect Street.
