Essex Police/Fire: Loose cow leads chase around Essex

Essex Police/Fire

A cow that was reported loose along Western Avenue caused a stir throughout town by Patriot’s Landing and Red Gate Road as well Thursday morning.

Police said that, around 9:50 a.m., the animal control officers from Essex and Hamilton were working to get the bovine back home by luring it into a vehicle with food; but it eluded the officers and ran back into the woods in its way home.

Wednesday just before noon, police stopped a woman on John Wise Avenue and Choate Street. It was later found she was driving with a suspended license and police are seeking a criminal complaint against her. Police said they did not have the woman’s name available.

Police responded to a report of suspicious activity at 11:13 a.m. Thursday. Police found a door to a Main Street business unlocked, but there were no other issues with the business.

Police said a man on Wood Drive injured himself with a nail gun accidentally Wednesday at 12:41 p.m.; the man was taken to Beverly Hospital.
