Essex Police/Fire: Rockport man charged in assault

ESSEX — Police arrested William Cronan, 31, of 13 Marmion Way in Rockport on charges of domestic assault and battery Sunday at 12:24 a.m.

The arrest came after police responded to calls reporting a domestic assault in progress at a residence in Story Acres in Essex.

No further information was available.

A woman reported at 9 a.m. Saturday that, while she was behind Town Hall walking, she saw kids with guns.

When police arrived, they found the kids were shooting air-soft guns at each other.

Officers advised them to stay off public property.

Officers responded to two calls for an intoxicated patron at the Windward Grille on Friday at 8:57 p.m. The patron had left before police arrived.

Officers were called back to the restaurant at 7:49 p.m. Sunday following an incident with the same individual, but, once again, the patron had left before officers arrived.

Police observed someone dumping brush at Duns Wood Lot on Western Avenue on Saturday at 10:29 a.m. When officers spoke the person, they found he was given permission to dump brush there.

Paramedics transported a person from The Village Restaurant on Main Street to Beverly Hospital on Sunday at 2:22 p.m.
