ROCKPORT — A dog was hit by a motor vehicle on Railroad Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. Monday, police said.

The owner later retrieved the dog.

Tuesday at 11 a.m., the Fire Department was dispatched to School Street for a fire alarm. Responders, however, found it to be a false alarm.
