A North Andover woman accused of stealing $900 from a Good Harbor Beach slush vendor and then flushing it down the toilet was placed on a year's probation Monday.
Christine Moriarty, 24, of 606 Alder Way, North Andover, admitted to sufficient facts on a charges of larceny and possession of heroin in the case before Judge Joseph Jennings in Gloucester District Court.
Judge Jennings placed her on probation until Jan. 13, 2013, subject to random drug screenings. Moriarty also paid $900 in restitution to the Beach Pit concession stand, and will enroll in a drug rehabilitation program.
Officers arrested Moriarty in July at the Good Harbor Beach concession stand after she stole roughly $900 from a slush stand, and then ran off. An employee chased her until she ran into the women's bathroom and locked herself in a stall. Another employee said she saw the woman flush the money, in a bag, down the toilet.
Police did not find the bag, but found a small amount of heroin in her possession.
A Gloucester man pleaded guilty and was handed probation Monday on charges of breaking and entering at night, larceny of more than $250, and underage possession of alcohol.
Judge Jennings placed Steven Thackery on two years probation with an eight-month suspended sentence, and ordered him to pay $250 in restitution. He's also subject to random drug and alcohol screenings and will go through rehabilitation with the Salvation Army.
Officers arrested Thackery on Dec. 9. Thackery, 19, of 11 Forest St., Gloucester, and John Thibeault, 19 of 20 Willowood Road, Gloucester, were both charged stemming from their alleged Oct. 30 break into an Eastern Avenue home after attending a party at the Captain's Lodge.
According to police, the two stole a 32-inch television from the home that Thibeault then allegedly sold to a friend.
Thackery also pleaded guilty to charges of receiving stolen property, and malicious destruction of property.
Thibeault's case is still before the court.
A Gloucester man was placed on probation through Jan. 7, 2013, after he pleaded guilty to drug possession charges.
Kyle Fennessey, 25, of Oak Street, was charged with possessing Suboxone, used to treat opiate addiction, and hashish, after police arrested him on Elm Street last June.
Assault charges brought against a Gloucester man was dismissed Monday.
Judge Jennings dismissed a charge of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon against Paul Scuderi, 45, of Washington Street.
Police arrested Scuderi on Oct. 29 after a woman who lived with him had claimed Scuderi hit her over the head with a picture frame.
A New York woman was placed on probation Monday for her second drunken driving offense.
Jill Manning, 37, of 244 East 30th St. in New York City, was placed on two years of probation with a six-month suspended sentence. She was fined $350. Essex police arrested Manning in the parking lot at Captain Dusty's and Schooner Market.
Manning was charged with operating under the influence and having an open container of alcohol in her car.
A domestic assault charge brought against a Castle View Drive resident was dismissed Monday at the request of the commonwealth.
The charge against Jeffrey Hostage, 49, was dismissed based on a failure to prosecute. Police arrested Hostage on Nov. 23 after he and a woman living with him allegedly had an argument over their daughter.
