Last year, a Gloucester High teacher and one of the minds behind the Project Adventure movement led adventure-based counseling with students and teachers in post-tsunami Japan.
On Wednesday, a group of those Project Adventure instructors from Japan visited Jim Schoel's classroom at the high school's Worstrel Center on the Annisquam River to meet his students.
"I've been talking with students about my experience, and I thought it might be a good idea for them to come to Gloucester and meet my students," Schoel said.
The teachers from Japan met Schoel's students at the outdoor education classroom and saw what they've done with the center, and walked the ropes course. They ate dinner with students and residents, with the dinner crafted and presented by the high school's culinary arts program.
Schoel went to Japan to do adventure-based counseling with students and teachers in the Japanese Project Adventure program who were affected by last year's tsunami.
