Rockport Police/Fire: Police waiting on aquarium for seal's removal

Rockport Police/Fire

ROCKPORT — Police received more phone calls Wednesday evening about a dead seal that washed up on Pebble Beach earlier in the day.

Police said officials are waiting to remove the seal until volunteers from the New England Aquarium are able to examine the carcass.

The seal’s remains were still on the beach Thursday afternoon, according to police. Police said it looked like the seal had possibly been struck by a boat.

Police arrested Jennifer Jones, 27, outside of her Sandy Bay Terrace home on a default warrant from court Thursday at 9 a.m., police said.

Marjorie Nesin can be reached at 978-283-7000, x3451, or at mnesin@gloucestertimes.com.
