Rockport Police/Fire: No lights places driver in court

ROCKPORT — A 23-year-old Natick man was arrested here Friday night, after the man, driving with headlights off after dark, failed to stop for police.

Ben Ellis was released late Friday night on personal recognizance after his arrest about 8:53 p.m., according to police. He was arraigned Monday morning in Gloucester District Court on charges of driving with headlights off after dark, failure to stop for an officer, resisting arrest, police said.

Three runners were transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester from Rockport’s half-marathon race Sunday, according to police. Two men were transported from South Street between 10:50 and 11:09 a.m., and the third man was transported from Thatcher Road to the hospital at 11:21 a.m., according to police.

Police searched the area of Forrest Street on Saturday for a vehicle that, a caller told police, struck another parked vehicle then took off about 9:17 p.m.

Police said the caller reported the vehicle as an old, small, beige sedan, but a search of the area came up negative.
