---- — MANCHESTER — A Beverly Farms man is facing heroin charges after being nabbed by Manchester police Saturday afternoon.

While patrolling a municipal parking lot on Norwood Avenue, Manchester police noticed a car parked in the lot that did not have an inspection sticker Saturday at 2:25 p.m.

Police said they then noticed Samuel Sherwood, 24, of Beverly Farms try to hide something, he was later arrested for possession of a Class A narcotic, heroin.

Police arrested Alec McDiarmid, a 34-year-old man from Beverly on a warrant out of Salem District Court on Bridge Street Friday at 11:36 p.m.

Police said they initially responded to the area for a disturbance call, McDiarmid is also being charged with possession of a Class E narcotic, which covers prescription medications.

A Magnolia Beach patron phoned police Friday around 2:45 p.m. about a beached seal. Police told the caller to stay away from it as it will return to the ocean on its own.

Police notified the harbormaster shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday after boats traveling to close to the beach off Ocean Street. Officials told the boaters to leave the area.

Police responded to a call about a broken window at the Manchester Essex Regional Middle High School Saturday at 7:40 p.m. When police arrived, they found a broken window in a door and notified maintenance personnel.

Police responded to reports about youths with shopping carts around Summer and Beach Streets Saturday around 9:15 p.m., but could not find anyone when they arrived.
