Gloucester Police/Fire: Maine man faces local drug charge

Police arrested a Maine man on Millet Street Saturday for possessing pills for which he did not have a prescription.

Officers arrested Wallace Gray, 25, from an unknown address in Maine, after they stopped his vehicle on Millet Street at 1:30 p.m.

Police stopped the vehicle because it had a broken muffler and failed to use a turn signal. Police found four pills in his pants pocket. He was charged with possession of a Class B substance.

Gloucester and state Environmental Police arrested Phillip Curcuru, 65, of Warner Street, for illegal possession and harvesting of salt water eels. No further information was available as of Monday.

The Fire Department's Rescue Squad transported a Washington Street resident to Addison Gilbert Hospital at 6:04 p.m. Saturday.

The state Department of Mental Health told police Saturday at 2:09 p.m. that a man who posed a risk to himself had left a Salem hospital and gone to The Heights of Cape Ann in Gloucester. The man, according to police reports, turned himself in at Addison Gilbert Hospital later that day.

Police responded to a report of an unconscious man on a bench at Railroad Avenue Friday at 3:33 p.m.

When police found the man, he was slumped over a chair and unresponsive. Police found several pills on his person and had the man transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital.

A Prospect Street resident called police at 3:35 p.m. Sunday to report that three rings had been stolen from her home. She told officers that she wasn't sure when they went missing, but thought her son might have taken them.

The Fire Department's rescue squad transported an Edgewood Road resident to Addison Gilbert Hospital Friday at 5:21 p.m.

A woman flagged down a police cruiser on Patriot's Circle Friday at 8:05 p.m., saying that a friend's child had gone missing. Police put out a description, and found the child biking in Riverdale Park soon after.

Police received a report of a "mountain lion" near Route 128 in the southbound lane Friday at 9:30 p.m. Police responded and tried to find the animal or other large cat, but could not.

A Gaffney Street resident called police Saturday at 12:44 a.m. to report three people looking into car windows with a flashlight. Police responded but didn't find anything. Officers dispersed an arguing couple on Colbin Street at 7:07 a.m.
