ROCKPORT — Award-winning novelist, reviewer, journalist and writing teacher Hallie Ephron will talk about her writing career at the next "Meet the Author" event next Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Rockport Public Library.
Ephron's latest novel, "Never Tell a Lie," is a psychological thriller set in suburban Boston. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly described it as a "deliciously creepy tale of obsession."
The book, which was optioned for film and translated into seven languages, was nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark Award and won the David Award for Best Mystery Novel of 2010.
Ephron's "Writing and Selling Your Mystery Novel: How to Knock 'em Dead with Style," was nominated for Edgar and Anthony awards. She is also the author of "The Bibliophile's Devotional: 365 Days of Literary Classics," and "1001 Books for Every Mood," touted as an irreverent guide to great reads.
She grew up in Los Angeles, the third of four writing Ephron sisters — Nora, Delia, and Amy. Her parents were screenwriters, Henry and Phoebe Ephron, who penned films such as "The Desk Set" and "Carousel."
The "Meet the Author" series is sponsored by the Library, the Friends of the Library, and Toad Hall Bookstore.
The next event in the series will be on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. when Rockport resident Marcia Siegel will discuss her latest book, "Mirrors and Scrims: the Life and Afterlife of Ballet."
