A caller told police at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday that a man was standing on Concord Street holding a rifle and a knife.
When police arrived, however, they discovered that the man was instead holding a metal detector and a hand shovel.
The man told police he was "looking for buried treasure."
Gloucester police made a number of warrant arrests Tuesday and Wednesday.
Barry Postal, 43, of Hampton, N.H., was arrested at 12:03 p.m. Tuesday after being stopped for allegedly failing to signal while turning onto Maplewood Avenue. When police ran his information, they found a warrant for his arrest.
Joseph Pinto, 25, and Chelsea Horton, 23, both of Salem, were arrested on warrants at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday following a disturbance on Eastern Avenue.
Justin Poor, 27, of Church Street, surrendered himself to police at 6:59 a.m. Wednesday on two outstanding warrants.
