Essex Police/Fire: Hamilton teen facing alcohol charges

ESSEX — A Hamilton teenager is facing charges after a motor vehicle stop Saturday at 12:23 a.m. on Western Avenue.

Police said that, after the initial stop, it became clear 18-year-old Caitlin O’Donnell was transport alcohol in the car. O’Donnell was charged with an open containea.m. a.m.r violation, operating a motor vehicle without a license, failing to dim her high beams headlights and a minor in possession of alcohol.

Essex Police said they also arrested a juvenile from Danvers on a warrant on Friday just before 3:30 p.m. Police said it was the result of a report issued by the state Department of Children and Families and believed the warrants were due to a probation violation and an assault and battery charge.

Suspicious activity was report of at 9 p.m. in the parking lot of a Main Street business. According to police, officers questioned a few youths who may have been underage and were smoking cigarettes. Police questioned a worker at the selling establishment, who said the kids all showed proper identification.

The Causeway on Main Street was closed Saturday from 9:10 to 10:40 a.m. due to flooding.
