High bacteria count found in Plum Cove waters

Citing a high bacteria count, the city’s Board of Health has notified residents that, if they swim at Plum Cove Beach today and at least early tomorrow, they must do so at their own risk.

Test results from earlier this week revealed the beaches bacteria levels are above state limits, according to a statement from city Health Director Noreen Burke.

Burke indicated that she is hopeful a new round of tests will show the beach waters will return to safe bacteria levels, but the next scheduled test results will not be available until tomorrow.
