Gloucester Police/Fire: Driver ecapes injury in Grant Circle crash

Gloucester Police/Fire:

GLOUCESTER — A driver was uninjured when her vehicle rolled over and landed on its roof after she hit a patch of black ice while turning from Grant Circle Friday about 7:25 a.m.

Police said the driver, a 25-year-old Rockport woman, declined medical attention on the scene and had already exited the vehicle when officers arrived.

The woman told officers her grey Nissan Pathfinder began to slide on ice as she attempted to turn from the circle onto the northbound Route 128 Extension, then the vehicle rolled over as she tried to compensate for the sliding.

Police on the scene said the road’s surface was slippery, and there was frost on the ground. Tally’s Towing removed the vehicle, police said.

Gloucester Fire Department paramedics transported a woman, reported as “possibly giving birth,” from the Railroad Avenue train platform to Beverly Hospital Thursday about 7:34 p.m., according to police.
