---- — GLOUCESTER — A 53-year-old Rockport man had his case continued without a finding for a year Friday after facing arraignment in Gloucester District Court for a November drunken driving arrest.

Michael S. Burbank’s case was continued through December 2013, but Burbank was also placed on 24 days of probation and ordered to pay $350 in court fees.

Burbank was arrested Nov. 21 about 3:46 a.m. after he failed to yield when entering Grant Circle, according to the police report. Burbank was ordered to pay an additional fine of $35 for failing to yield at the circle.

A 65-year-old Essex man, arrested in July, was found guilty on a charge of resisting arrest but not guilty on a charge of disorderly conduct following a bench trial Friday in Gloucester District Court.

Ernest L. Doucette was sentenced to three days in jail, with the time deemed already served.

Doucette was arrested in July, after swearing and screaming in the Tedeschi’s store on Washington Street in Gloucester.

Police said officers had initially been called to insist that the man return to the store to pay for an ice cream sandwich, which he had allegedly taken. Police said Doucette paid for the sandwich, but then began to scream and swear, upsetting others in the store.

Police said Doucette then swore at police and yanked his arm away from an officer who was attempting to handcuff him.
