---- — GLOUCESTER — A 40-year-old Gloucester man was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery and possession of synthetic marijuana Friday about 1:34 p.m., according to police.

David Perez of Prospect Street was arrested after police received a call reporting that he had shaken the contents of a woman’s purse onto the floor in a Prospect Street home, then pushed her on the couch and fled.

Residents at the apartment told officers that Perez had been “strung out on pills for several days,” according to police reports.

Officers searched the area for Perez and eventually found him back in front of the residence. When police searched the man, they said officers found a packet of synthetic marijuana and an unidentified white pill.

A 32-year-old Bridgewater man wanted on a variety of charges was arrested at a Pleasant Street apartment Friday about 10:37 a.m., after police received a tip about his location.

There were five outstanding warrants out of Gloucester and Quincy for Wilfred E. Couchon, including witness intimidation and trespassing, harassment and possession of burglar tools.

Police said that Couchon had a “long violent criminal history in and out of state.”

When police arrested Couchon, they confiscated a gun lock and a pill bottle for prescription suboxone. But, police said, the pills inside the bottle did not appear to be the prescribed drug. Police have sent the pills out for testing.

Couchon now faces the additional charge of possession of a class B drug.

A 43-year-old Gloucester woman was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign at the corner of Wayward Street and Bass Avenue on Friday about 1:08 a.m., according to police. Police said an officer patrolling the area issued Jessica Flynn of Doanne Road a criminal citation after seeing her vehicle pass the sign without stopping.
