---- — MANCHESTER — Manchester Essex Regional High School athletes may soon be recipients of some tips on safe driving.
Police plan to speak with coaches at the high school and ask them to talk to students about driving too fast before and after sporting events.
The move was prompted by a report police received of a vehicle, driven and ridden in by football players, speeding on Vine Street on Thursday about 5:58 p.m.
Sgt. Toff Fitzgerald will speak to coaches and requested that a police vehicle patrol around the school and its fields during sporting events.
Officers are investigating complaints of a bearded man spitting and swearing at vehicles near Lincoln and School streets.
Police said they received one of many reports of the bearded man spitting and swearing in that area on Thursday about 7:43 p.m.
Officers went to the area after receiving the report Thursday, but found no spitting, bearded man upon arrival.
