---- — Rockport Friends of the Library will hold its Fall Book and Bake Sale next weekend.
The sale will run Friday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 14, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Brenner Room, on the second floor of Rockport Public Library.
The library garden will be open with children’s books and cotton candy for sale, weather permitting.
Some books sold at the Friends sales are paperback and hardback books in good condition that were donated year-round at the library circulation desk during library hours.
Profits from the book sales help support a variety of library programs, including the author series, children’s parties and programs, and museum passes and the winter movie series.
Old Sloop Coffeehouse will present a performance by Drew Nelson next Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the handicap-accessible First Congregational Church of Rockport. Resident Tom “Satch” Kerans will open the show.
Nelson, a Michigan-born Navy veteran and Red House recording artist, is a storytelling songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. A fly fisherman and world traveler, he writes as a witness to the lives and journeys of those he has met along the way, mixing Americana and roots-rock with traditional folk styles.
Kerans is a veteran of the Boston rock ’n’ roll scene who now plays solo and fronts the Satch Kerans Band.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 from the coffeehouse website at oldsloopcoffeehouse.org, at Gloucester Music, and at Toad Hall Bookstore in Rockport. The suggested donation at the door is $12 for adults, $7 for those 65 and older, $5 for those younger than 18, and $24 for a family.
Rockport Recreation offers pilates classes each Tuesday and Thursday evening at the Community House from 6 to 7 p.m. Participants pay $50 for 12 classes or $8 per class. Those seeking more information can contact Caitlin at 978-546-1309 or Caitlin@rockportrecreation.com
