---- — Two drivers were injured in an accident on Tuesday evening.

Police responded to the two-car accident near Beacon Street at 6:17 p.m. Both drivers received minor injuries and their cars were heavily damaged.

One driver ran through a stop sign and struck another whose car then collided with a utility pole. Both refused medical transport. The second driver went to the hospital on his own.

A Chapel Street resident came into the police station to report that his aunt was keeping his $2,600 Supplemental Security Income check and using it to pay rent and other bills.

He spoke to police at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday and said that he used to live with his aunt, which is why the check was sent there. He said he moved back with his mother and changed his address, but one additional check was sent to his aunt, and she would not give it to him.

Police called the aunt, who was irate and hung up the phone. She called police back later that day and said she had found the check and was going to take it to the Social Security office in Gardner, which would return it to the man.

A woman reported Tuesday at 2:27 p.m. that an $1,100 car radio had been taken from her boyfriend’s car around Sept. 21. She said she didn’t know who would have taken it and wasn’t sure if the car was left unlocked.
