Gloucester Police/Fire: Maplewood Ave. man faces drug charges

A 35-year-old Maplewood Avenue man is facing drug charges after his arrest by Gloucester Police on a warrant Friday morning.

Vito Aiello of 125 Maplewood Ave., was charged at 9:56 a.m. Aiello, who police said was known to be "associated with illegal narcotics," was carrying several pills for which he did not have a prescription. He was arrested on Washington Street, and charged with possession of a Class B substance, pills.

Police responded to the Tedeschi's plaza parking lot on Washington Street at 12:11 a.m. Friday for a report of a man throwing skateboards.

When officers arrived, two young men told them that an older man with a dog had said he was going to fight with them, and threw their long-boards into the parking lot. No charges were filed and police have no suspects.

Police responded to 8 Western Ave. Thursday at 4:20 p.m. for a report of a woman making threats to harm herself. When police and paramedics arrived, they could not find the woman, and told residents of the building to call when she returned.

Officers found her later on Washington Street by Gould Court. She was transported to Addison Gilbert Hospital for evaluation.

Two men shooting a pellet gun off the Stone Pier near Atlantic Street drew a police response Wednesday at 7:04 p.m.

Police said the men had valid firearms identification cards, and were told to move along. They were target shooting, according to police reports.
