A Gloucester man facing two counts of larceny by check of more than $250 was ordered to pay $4,029 in restitution and put on probation for one year by Judge Joseph Jennings in Gloucester District Court yesterday.
David Rogers, of 42 Washington St., Apt. 3, was charged April 22 after he failed to pay for two bounced checks made out to a Woburn-based business in the amounts of $2,382 and $1,596.
Rogers, 37, doing business as Gloucester Computer Sales and Services, wrote the checks to Max Group Corp. in October and November 2008.
A 22-year-old Taunton man charged with drunken driving admitted to sufficient facts and had his case continued without a finding for 15 months. He also lost his license for 45 days.
John L. Edmond-Smith, of 283 Bay St., Apt. 2, Taunton, was arrested Jan. 24 after police observed his disabled Dodge Ram pickup truck in the breakdown lane of Route 128 south just beyond Grant Circle with a flat driver-side tire and damaged rim.
According to police, Edmond-Smith said the vehicle struck a curb, but he didn't remember where.
According to court documents, police smelled a strong odor of alcohol and noted his bloodshot eyes and that his speech was slurred. When asked if he drank anything that night, he reportedly told police he drank at a bar in Peabody. He also told police he thought he was still in Peabody.
Edmond-Smith must also complete a 24-day substance abuse program and was assessed $600 in court costs.
Steven MacDougall, of 5 Elwell Street, Apt. 1, pleaded guilty to charges of disturbing the peace and resisting arrest and was fined $600.
According to the police report, MacDougall, 24, was one of two men causing a disturbance at the House of Mitch on Jan. 24 after he had already been asked by police to leave the area earlier that night after causing a disturbance at Old Timer's Tavern.
As MacDougall walked away from the House of Mitch, police overheard him screaming derogatory remarks about the Gloucester Police Department. As police began to approach him, MacDougall began running up Center Street where officers were eventually able to catch up and place him under arrest.
According to court documents, MacDougall struggled with the officers during the time of his arrest.
A Gloucester woman charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, operating an unregistered vehicle, and operating an uninsured vehicle had her case dismissed upon payment of $150.
Rachel Loiacano, 22, of 15 Proctor St., Apt. 1, was charged after Rockport police pulled over the driver of her vehicle on Main Street near the Five Corners in Rockport on Nov. 1.
According to court documents, Loiacano's boyfriend was driving the car at the time some 15 mph below the posted speed limit.
Loiacano was found not responsible for the operating an unregistered motor vehicle charge.
A Gloucester teen charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and dropping a cigarette/match in a forest/park had his case continued without a finding for six months.
Vito G. Ciaramitaro, 17, of 18 Reservoir Road, was also assessed $150 in court costs.
State police charged Ciaramitaro after a trooper on patrol in Stage Fort Park on Dec. 9 saw the driver of a black Volkswagen sedan throw a "lit and orange-colored smoldering object" out the driver-side window.
According to court documents, when the trooper approached the vehicle, he detected a strong odor of freshly burnt marijuana emanating from inside the car. The trooper reportedly shined a flashlight inside the vehicle and observed two knives in the driver-side door compartment.
Ciaramitaro was ordered out of the vehicle after he appeared to move his hands toward the knives, which were later determined to be a switchblade and a dagger. The trooper confiscated the knives at the scene.
