Rockport Police/Fire: Police can't verify calls of shots fired

ROCKPORT — Police received multiple calls about shots fired near Squam Hill Road at 7:21 a.m. Thursday.

Residents reported that it sounded like someone was "firing a machine gun," but when police searched the area they found no signs of any weapon's fire and no one in the area.

A Kitefield Road man turned himself in to police on three outstanding warrants at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Scott Malmati, 37, was arraigned on the warrants in Gloucester District Court Thursday. Police would not specify the charges that the warrants entailed.

A Curtis Street woman reported her husband missing at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday. The husband, however, returned home at 10:27 p.m., police said.
